Abstract
The paper analysis the reactions of the Brazilian industrial entrepreneurs against the measures of the Plano de Estabilização Monetária (Monetary Stabilization Plan, 1958) that aimed to control external disequilibrium and inflation. These reactions appeared in Desenvolvimento e Conjuntura, an important monthly review edited by the Confederação Nacional da Indústria (National Industrial Confederation) The paper argues that the Brazilian entrepreneurs preferred inflation with growth to stabilization with credit and budget constraints.
