Abstract
This article aims to shed light on the economic history of the black population in São Paulo between 1920 and 1930, through the analysis of employee hiring records of the Companhia Antarctica Paulista (CAP) in this period. Through documentary and bibliographical research and the Serial History methodology, we seek to reduce the gap in the historiography on the presence of black people in the post-abolition industry in São Paulo. As this is primary source research, we will contribute to studies on the dissemination of these sources; after all, the absence of research is largely due to the lack of access to documents. Using the 15 slots to fill in, we analyze: housing, salaries, and living costs. These employee records provide a rich source of information concerning this population that still lacks studies on its insertion in the formal job market in the city of São Paulo between 1920 and 1930.
